•August 22, 2009 • 2 Comments

today was a good day. woke up late. did some simple store work. skipped breakfast and booked out by 10(: mum came to pick me since she was free. thank god for that cos i was about to take a cab since i had my duffle bag. the most “zor teng” and hard to pull for a long distance bag. had milo for breakfast at home, then i spent the next 1hour or so swimming and tanning before lunch. napped after lunch and headed to school for the ib reunion. the programme was short. simple and to the point. lex just reminded me of council and cao and debbie were just awesome. thanks for bringing back some memories(: besides that, we got the moe certs- of which there was a screw up in mine cos of grades.. so i returned it. and on another note, the food was quite awesome. the satay(was incredibly tasty), the crabsticks and wedges and chin chow(: i’ll just let some of the pictures do the talking.

this week was quite a slack week and it passed by pretty quickly. yesterday was a surprisingly busy day. spent the morning supporting the platoon course for hotel and charlie wing. it took up my entire morning. the afternoon was spent doing stores, chatting with people and doing adminstrative stuff. today was a slack day. really. i was the only ooc left in the wing and all the other ooc people went to play enemy and support the marsling training for scorpion king next week. i was left behind cos of my pes status and cos i wasnt too well yesterday either- and cpt tan didnt want to RISK taking me outfield(: (AWESOME!). im much better today and i think its about time to stop popping the pills too. taking abt 15 pills each day for the past 2 weeks has been quite sian. honestly. but im glad im still physically fit- so i think. HAH. anyways im being posted out of the wing next monday.mixed emotions about it. (slaps himself* havent u been waiting for this moment for like forever!) actually, i really dont mind going for scorpion king- cos my good friens are going and its going to be quite a fun time just like tekong! but im posted out.. at such a time as this! HAHA. so yeah. will be in HRHQ as my temp posting, so i’ll still be in safti for now(: 8-5! tomorrow morning booking out after breakfast and perhaps some simple store work…

anyways ive been quite free today so ive spent my day reading jokes, sleeping, having a long lunch with hui long, settling stuff, having a quick chat with clement and unloading stores. yup. heres one joke i tot was incredibly stupid and somewhat funny:

One of the main reasons why in recent years the Singapore Government has always ensured that their Miss Universe representative were of tertiary level education or higher was because of the following incident which occurred not too many years ago. It is the final round of the Miss Universe Pageant and the 3 finalists, Miss USA, Miss Malaysia and Miss Singapore are being asked 3 simple questions: MC: The first question is name me an electrical appliance starting with “L” Miss USA: Lamp Miss Malaysia: Light bulb Miss Singapore: LADIO Judge: No, no, Radio does not start with the letter “L” MC: I am going to give you 2 more chances; The next question is name me an animal starting with the letter “L” Miss USA: Lion Miss Malaysia: Leopard Miss Singapore: LABBIT Judge: No, no, no, Rabbit does not start with the letter “L” MC: I am going to give you one last chance, if you answer this question incorrectly, you are disqualified. Name me a fruit starting with the letter “L” Miss USA: Lemon Miss Malaysia: Lychee Miss Singapore, with full of confidence, smiles and says: LIEWLIAN !! This is not the end of the story, the Judge consulted the board of judges to determine if Miss Singapore should really disqualified; and they decided that since Miss Singapore was having as many problems with the letter “L”, the decided to give her another chance. Judge: OK, the final question is name me a human anatomy starting with the letter “L” Miss USA: Lung (applause) Miss Malaysia: Liver (even more applause) Miss Singapore: LAN CIAU… LOL

tomorrow theres ac reunion in the afternoon too. its been quite a while since i saw quite a few people. its time to catch up(: im off.

its tuesday. hello. haha. probably thought i would have gotten posted out by now (and knowing that weichong is now in cmpb! (insert grinn here)… but well, thats not really the case for me. just talked to wing2ic this evening and well, hes going to send another email to try and post us out. so i guess i shd be out in probably a week or so… hopefully that is. if not, i just might be going for scorpion king, which takes place next week. anwyays this week the wing has really been outfield alot and thus im like free-er in that sense. but i might be going tomorrow and/or friday ourfield to help out with some stuff la. booked-in on sunday night after the national day rally speech. well, like most national day rally speeches, i guess it sorta addresses the main issues the country is facing and well, the outlook… which if i recall, is full of “hope”.

read the new paper on sunday too and there was this interesting article about the miss universe competition and how singapore’s national costume for the past few years have been designed by students and not local fashion designers. firstly, i completely agree with some of the views. i think its not really publicised well enough. secondly, there is no sponsorship. i think if singapore really wanted an award winning national costume, i think designers would want some incentive to even come up with the ideas for the dress itself (besides the fact that the dress will be on world wide tv). this years design, inspired by the national flower seems simple and to the point. i like the choice of color and the head dress-like thing. but last years dress was completely disgusing i must say. the person who picked it to actually be the winning costume must probably be queer. its just one of those things u’ll probably wear with a bucket over your face. generally not an appealing dress, but im sure the concept of working with the merlion was an interesting choice and perhaps a commendable attempt.lol

back to stuff back at wing line, hmm. there are 3 more occs! which makes the strength of the special force 9. hah. i guess that means a greater division of labor and that probably means a less hectic schedule for me as well. i went to the MO yesterday to check on my throat and to get more flu medication too. my throat condition is worst and thus he gave me tonns of new medication and MC for yesterday. went home for lunch, watched tv for the entire afternoon and spent all the time after dinner watching youtube(: i watched all the new episodes for americas got talent and britians got talent and some comedy stuff. talked to some friends who i havent talked to in ages too. i think it was yuan fen la. we came online at the right time and it was really time to catch up with each other. awesome stuff. then booked in today and today must have been a rather usual and normal day for me i guess(: if im bored i’ll try and blog more. anyways i hope the people in uni are having fun! hope to hear from u guys soon yeah. oh and theres the ib reunion thing this sat in school. i really wonder how many people are going to turn up. speaking of that, i think i did discuss this with alvin before. i think its sorta impersonal and all- but wth la. i think more people will go if its organised for us, by us. (but who honestly has the time…to organise. HAHA)

i spent most of this week at home. i know it may come as a surprise. but yeah, i did. monday was a holiday and then i booked into camp rather late at night. had some emo moments  about one situation and had a good chat till late. slept immediately and had to wake up by 4ish am to set off for breakfast, draw arms and move off to tekong. it was good fun wearing the old uniform and playing enemy for sierra wing. the experience was worth it. i was on route 4 and i think the 2 sections that attempted this route probably found much difficulty in defeating us. they probably didnt realise we were the aggressor and we had a group of abt 10 people vs their 7 men section size. my mentor/ partner was lta melvin and well, we did have some good conversations to kill time and chill out while waiting for the enemies to attack us. cleared up by about 3ish and took the 4pm ferry back. reached camp by 530, sent arms and thats about it. my head was spinning and i knew that i was unwell as i woke up with a flu, cough and sorethroat. felt feverish that evening too, so i just went back to bunk, and slept fm 730pm till the next morning. reported to the MO in the morning and got my 2 days attc. thurs felt worst, and thus i went to my own doc. he extended my mc till the end of the week and gave me antibiotics for my throat infection, which was a stage before tonsillitis. the flu and cough medication put together are just as effective as sleeping pills. eat and sleep. eat and sleep. only went out for choir night to support my bro last night and went out for a few hours today just to stretch and get out of the house for a while. my throat still hurts and i really wanna get well soon. i guess whatever the case, i will see how the condition is before i head back to camp. really dont want it to worsen cos its making my life quite miserable. haha. tomorrows sunday. then may the new week begin.

happy 44th birthday! and UP(:

singapore_flag_imageHAPPY 44th BIRTHDAY SINGAPORE! hahaha. well, i must say i kinna love the country- cos my family and friends are all here. would love to work overseas and all. but yes, im sure whatever the case, i’ll surely call this place home LA! anyways had a pretty awesome day out today. had lunch, then walked around ion orchard again. went to uniqlo since it has finally opened. i think i’ll do my shopping on the weekdays. great stuff. can get my boxers and socks and random tees from there. reasonable prices too(: dunkin donuts are a great snack there too! saw a bag which i liked from adidas, but well, the color was red! stupid. and i wouldnt carry a red bag! so yeah. too bad. if it comes in black or Up_Postergrey, i’ll prob get it. hahaha. then it was off to PS to meet chris for UP(: the movie was quite good la. expected and well, fantastic animation! the plot and everything was fantastic too. i actually love the use of color in the production(: my rating 8/10. and it wasnt draggy. i did feel it was abit too short though- but really is the purpose of the film? save the bird?LOL. met fab after the movie for a while and well, it was great to catch up with him before we all split up. interesting convo today. about guys and what nots. and i believe what i said is true la.. and ive added abit more categories to the list. singapore men are different now. (at least for the age group of 18-mid 20s). they’re either metro, homo, cannot make it, too nsk, the average joe, the alpha male. wouldnt you agree? headed back hm after grabbing dinner and watched ndp. ndp was sad. really.  in my opinion, i thought the storyline wasnt good. plus, the marching wasnt fantastic and there was so little fireworks. on top of that, a terrible theme song. perhaps the ONLY 4 things i enjoyed were: 1. the remix-es to the old nationalday songs 2. the lighting effects 3. the backdrop and the concept of the stage(: (which i believe is getting better every year) 4. the video with the kids! and how the boy wants to be a psp player helper thingy and how the last boy wanted to be the president! okay. that video was funny, cute and adorable! YES. thats about all i enjoyed. plus singapore idol! hahaha. i must say that this season seems to have great lady singers! hopefully a female can win idol this season! i think some of them have what it takes(:

tomorrows the public holiday! still putting together what im going to do. meanwhile, happy national day singapore(:

the long national day weekend has finally arrived and i guess its about time to take a breather. i have a million and one things to pen down, but i think i’ll just write whatever comes to mind. from my knee injury status, to field camp, to my birthday to the outing today and to whatever is about to come. to be honest, i was dreading field camp. the thought of going back to the forest, changing campsites and mosquitoes were just the things i didnt look forward to. but looking back, im honestly quite glad that i went to tekong. it was an UNFORGETTABLE experience as a support staff (and not an OCT) and the memories and some of the things i did would probably be etched in my mind for quite a long period of time.

the first few days were sorta miserable. knowing that i was one of 2 oocs who went (and then it became just me), most of my time was spent doing stores. didnt have much to do, and didnt know many people too. as the days went by, i got to know the drivers and mt line ppl and perhaps the perm staff better. had more fun playing games, working together, chilling out, and watching each others back. im sure that ive forged many new friendships and i know that some of these friendships will last. staff darren is also an amazing person to work with. helped him with ammo for the entire duration of field camp and i must say that we did quite an awesome job. it was incredible getting to know abu, hadi and clement too. i think we’ve got to know each other very well and i’ll honestly miss the days talking, bitching, sharing and just working together with you guys. im sure we’ll meet up, chill out and just hang out sometime soon too(: well, now i shall talk abt the best moments in tekong! 1. SATURDAY! perm staff book out(: it was just an awesome day just working with some officers and the mt line staff. did an awesome job running the wing and had so much fun! including the tekong exploration, scrabble, charades and the long talk cock sessions! 2. canteen breaks! school2 canteen rotijohn, laksa and prawn mee for the win(: the waffle and the fries are pretty good snacks too! 3.making new friends! 4.warm showers daily! 5. monopoly and who wants to be a millionaire! and taking charge of ammo! n being a pro at finding unexpanded rounds(: LOL. 6. BBQ- chickenwings to stingray to crab(: good stuff! 7. the windy ride back on the boat(: admiring the view! haha. so i guess, the experience was pretty awesome!- thats when u look back at it. and u take away ALL the bullshit and work and our best friend. haha!

okay. now i should talk about my knee. okay. just before field camp, i went to see my specialist. another review was given and well, he said my injury was a sprain (LIKE duh i KNEW) then he told me what ligament it was and that it was a down-pes able condition. also said it would prob take 6 months or so with physio to completely heal, but chances of it coming back are high after that la. so yeah, went back to MO at safti and i signed the down pes forms and well, the medic said im pesc9l3 la (and i dont needa debate with medical board cos its a confirm sorta situation). well, so yes. im waiting for my posting out of the wing line and please pray for me that its going to be a good vocation. i really feel unsure of what my new posting will bring and well, i think this uncertainty sometimes kills me.

well, i did book out for my birthday in tekong. only on the day itself. it was an experience just waking up, knowing that your not in yr bed, but in some container-like shed. hahaha. and you wake up to … fishcake and bee hoon for breakfast! was greeted by many friends and sirs, and well it was a different experience. booked out by lunch and reached home by 4pm. had dinner with mum and bro(: this year i guess it was simple la. no big party of sorts. there wasnt time to plan and well, with my hectic and uncertain schedule, i guess that was the best option. went to hang out with jml, jase and daniel today(: well, it was just supposed to be a hangout. but i guess they sorta treated it like a belated celebration! so thanks guys! haha. bowled (ps: we totally rock in bowling la! i guess my second set of 150something was quite awesome! hahahah), had dinner and just chilled out! they zaoed after and we had some drinks before heading home. i think its become a need to get some alcohol into me every weekend! HAHA. okay. thanks so much for the gift! love it! and i’ll use it for sure!(:

national day tomorrow. dont feel the hype thats for sure (maybe not yet). dont like this years national day song! its so wth! thats just my opinion la. love the past year songs la! the traditional songs are still the best! HOME! one ppl, one nation, one singapore! where i belong! singapore town! HAHAHAHA. awesome stuff! will blog again tomorrow. for now, im signing off….

MANY things have been happening this week. from my med review to other stuff, which i will blog in detail when im done with field camp on wed. field camp has been an experience. in more BITCHY ways than ONE(: posts like this just serve as a HELLO-goodbye(: so yeah, the detailed entry will come soon. cheers

i cant really believe that my 7 days of attc are over. its too fast. like my friends said. its like a block leave. only that its faster and well, you get to spend it at home. the last 2 days were really spent at home. did designing stuff and watched alot of tv and youtube, together with upperbody training down at the gym and well, hours of me being quarantined by the pool doing absolutely nothing. i must say i recovered quite quickly but mum fell sick over the weekend and yeah she had fever cough and flu. glad shes better now and well, i just hope i dont get it when i go back to camp. tomorrow reporting back, then booking out at lunch for specialist appointment, then booking in and then booking out in the evening again to come home, rest, and then im reporting to tekong thurs morning 0730. its really kinna sian to go back to tekong, but im really having mixed emotions about it. whatever the case, its kinna nice to go meet everyone again and stuff. trying to look at the brighter side of things. i honestly miss my platoon mates abit. the chats and the conversations and the friendships. the knee’s honestly been bugging me abit. (and i honestly think ive reached the state where i know that there is pain, but its become tolerable, i almost f care it) and its because its not really recovering, which makes my thoughts about recourse that much harder. im definietly not going to wreck my brain just thinking about it. but at the same time, im not gg to let this opportunity just slip away without weighing things out. like the chat yesterday, i think my army journey’s like the pixel. its time to just trust god and let him slowly unravel the bigger picture.

in addition, i must say that the newpaper has been very interesting lately. especially in yesterdays issue and todays issue. the issue about the golden miCopy of DSC00240le complex and its “gloryholes” in toilets have finally surfaced after i had previously read/ heard about the issue somewhere before.  in addition, the idea of turning golden mile into golden 118 is rather absurb- from healthcare hub to strip shows and cineplex?!?. but well, im sure if its a good idea, this proposition will eventually become a reality. liverpool news has also cluttered most of the pages in the sports section- and im honestly quite shocked to how many fans the club has in singapore. the news about the boy, his mum and his stepfather is also quite sad and the article on how ivy named her kids was also surprising! i believe the latest news is about the bomb threat on the silkair flight and well, i hope the matter will settle quickly. as you can see, i guess reading has taken up most of my time here at home(: and its been good i guess. celebrated my birthday in advance today too. just in case i cant get out of tekong over the weekend. but if i do get out, i think i’ll celebrate it again! hahahahaha. lastly, i must say that the best thing about staying home is the home cooked dinners and the awesome soup and desserts(: you just cant compare food being mass-produced in industralized cookers and food which took hours to boil and cooked to perfection!

friday was a relatively boring, but somehow meaningful day and well, i must say it ended off nicely. thanks for meeting up(: the weekend went well. the pictures above would probably summarize what i was up to over the last 2 days. spent it with great company and friends(: played quite alot of pool and i must say that im pretty darn good(: considering ive not touch the cue stick in quite some time. haha. checked out some malls with my best friends yesterday. orchard central is pretty cool. its 10 stories and the shops are categorized. some interesting shops here and there. the lifts are really quite cool too and i love the installation which is like 6 stories tall in the main building area. but generally, i doubt i’ll shop in a place like that. can get really messy and it really appears to me as if the contractor is trying to squeeze everything together. the cool bits on the other hand are the look-out points located at various levels on the building(: headed to ion orchard too. love the architecture and well, everything ground floor and above is for the rich, famous and people with alot of money to splurge. anything below that is what you expect to find in most malls and well, its really quite cool. sadly uniqlo was not open yet. most stores are doing pretty well and yeah it seems like one of the places i might frequent more often(: headed to yihangs gathering thereafter. met new friends, chatted, caught up with people, drank, gossiped and well, had fun(: today was a fantastic day too, so thanks(: mums not too well. hope i didnt spread her e h1n1(but i didnt really get it leh!) so i’ll be ensuring that im socially responsible when/if  i return to camp. i hope the weather tomorrow will be good. staying at home to quarantine myself. doing art. drawing and decorating my mannequin which i have fixed. awesome. art ftw(:
